Lowe gets scammed with the unreliable Lupul, so naturally he tries
virtually the same thing with Penner. The similiarities are truly
amazing. One good year, the belief that he was riding the coattails
of his linemates, the disastrous playoff, the issues concerning
character (in Penners case, weight problems and constant
babysitting), etc etc.
But one fact is quite different: Penner's contract is like 100 times
more ludicrous than Lupul which was bad enough. Its the proposed
Smyth contract to, well, a player who may be no more significant than
what already exists, namely Torres.
Its absurd risk and if Penner is another Lupul, its gonna be hilarious.
