"Yeah, he played," Wilson said after his team's 3-2 loss. "But he
made mistakes at the end. He allowed what looked like a great effort
to dribble right down his chin.
"Obviously you wish he had the last goal back and that's kind of why
he's not ready to play in the NHL. You have to be able to play poised
all the way."
Wilson failed to call the obvious timeout, put an injured Stajan out
for the faceoff (42% last night), switched out Stajan 10 seconds after
the faceoff loss for an extra LWer ... and hits on one of Pogge's best
outings.
"He's shown he has great talent and that's why we have to be patient
with him," Wilson said. "You don't throw him under the bus or anything
like that. He's learning his craft. But you guys should respect that
and not put too much pressure on him."
Sure, just smack him up the side of the head if a team that had 10
minutes of life in it doesn't get a complete game-steal by Pogge.
This is a repeat of last year's public personnel evaluations by
PMaurice. Forget Ballard, it looks like the ghost of Punch is back. >> Stay informed about: Pogge Not Ready For the NHL |

GS, he's bringing some real strong stuff during the game (half d-
reversals on the PP worked great last night), but off-ice he's ugly-
mouth so far. It's a repeat of PMaurice and a revival of MMurphy. If
that's what he brings, that's what will get posted. And at the end of
the day, that's what will get thrown back when the re-shuffle starts
to wear down. >> Stay informed about: Pogge Not Ready For the NHL |

Good recap. He did a great building job in Ana, sorta spun n choked
in Washington (but they were a great team to watch), and he had a
great roster to work with in San Jose.
Will he turn the Leafs around? He'll certainly build a roster with
tougher hides. McCabe is actually the kind of player who could shrug
off the media ... and would absorb Wilson's public barbs. But we know
how that turned out. But after last night, I wouldn't want to be
Pogge today. >> Stay informed about: Pogge Not Ready For the NHL |

He's a great coach with a lousy attitude. I hate the public airing of
opinion, but Wilson was apt to do that with maybe two guys following the
Sharks. Now he has 30 people asking him about every single detail, every
single player, every single mistake made on the ice... so the verbal
diarrhea is going to flow. It's simply not going to stop unless he decides
to stop talking to the media. And yes, his act will wear out, but probably
not before he helps turn this team around like he has everywhere else he has
plied his trade. >> Stay informed about: Pogge Not Ready For the NHL |

He's got a rep for building young players. I agree with the OP on this one,
it's puzzling to hear the language that he used. If I was ripping anyone
last night, it was the two penalty takers. There's an agenda here with
Pogge, IMO. I'm not sure challenging him like that's a good thing. Goalies
are a strange breed. Why get into his headspace? >> Stay informed about: Pogge Not Ready For the NHL |

Yeah, well, I think he called out the guys taking the penalties with the "if
it's the regular season and you take that penalty you are done playing for
the night" comment. Maybe he is trying to light a fire under him to go down
to the A and prove him wrong? He is correct, that goal on Pogge was pretty
awful... bah, we could likely have this discussion x82 times this year with
rwilson. >> Stay informed about: Pogge Not Ready For the NHL |
