Post subject: Points awarded for scoring goals and assists

I have a question that I would like answered about points awarded for
goals and assists. I am aware that in the NHL 1 point is awarded for
goals and 1 point for assists.

A friend of mine tells me that they used award 2 points for goals and
one for assists. Does anyone know if this is true? And when they
changed it to 1 point for a goal?

If possible proof of this change and the year they changed it would be
nice.

Thanks,

Jim...
