(assuming these are negotiable with the players)

A) Sign John LeClair to a short-term deal
B) " " with a reduced salary (was suppposed to make nearly 7M this season)
C) Sign LeClair to a long-term (4-7 years) deal
D) Worry about their own free-agents
E) Wait for the Market to be flooded with more, better veterans
F) Other.

It's going to be hell for the big salary teams to get under the cap.

With the 24% rollback and no signings for Leclair I expect we can get him in
the 4mil - 4.5 range. He's due to make a little over 5mil this year.

I saw a conversation with Mario tonight on Sportsnet and they seem to be on
the look for players. We are sitting in the 3rd best position in the NHL
with the cap room. We can make moves and have a successful team this year
and years to come.

Can't wait :)

Excited to see what additions they make

JD

F) Wait until Montreal dumps Kovy and go after him.

Go Pens,

Would you rather have Kovy or Straka back? Or both?

Obviously both, but if I had to choose...STRAKA, by far! Imagine all the
breakaways he's going to get with no red line!

Kovalev is an unrestricted free agent. No need to wait for him to be
dumped by Montreal, he's already free to sign anywhere he wants....

If they only could bring back the KSL line. IF the Pens could have afforded
keeping all three, they really could have been on of the best line combos in
recent hockey history.

Yeah we need to aggressively pursue Kovy. Wow if we get Straka and Kovy
back that would be great.

Plus, the fact that he won't be able to trip over it and get injured
for the 100th time over the past few years. I'd take Kovalev over
both injury-prone players Straka and Leclair...

Are the teams allowed to A) talk to their players that are UFA or RFA's and
B) are they allowed to talk to potential UFA's?
