Just caught a news report on Y108 that said the Preds are being sold to
A California owner for 190M. Plans are to move to Kansas City.

I guess the Bulldogs won't have any competition...

A guy calling in on the radio today suggested that MLSE and the
Sabres are quietly ponying up the difference between the 240M and
the 190M and that may be why Leipold is going for it. Why else
would he give up on 50M?

Another possibility is that Balsillie is not for real. He may be
heavily leveraged or whatever and had to sell season tickets to
prove to a moneylender that a team in Hamilton is viable. Leipold
may have discovered this, just as Lemieux also may have discovered
this earlier. If Balsillie was for real, why didn't he just sign
the dotted line when Leipold's lawyers told him Leipold was going
to take the offer off the table? And its always easier to overpay,
as Balsillie was willing to do, when you aren't for real, or when
you are spending other people's money.

cordially, as always,

rm

Out of Province - I was in NB for the past two weeks, and there were a total of about 2 Leaf articles in the paper (I think that beat the Hab count). Wow! I was going through withdrawal. No cable or internet either! Small town sports coverage is pretty boring. -- ..
