I am sure they asked him nicely in the beginning. Just the same as Tampa
did with Boyle. The problem with the Maple Leafs is all the loose lips down
at MLSE. Guys who are feeding inside information to reporters like Dregor,
McKenzie and Berger. So everything plays out in the media and becomes an
overblown circus.
You are right, McCabe should not have to waive his NTC, however alot of
players in other citys have recently have waived their no trade clauses to
go to winning situations. It scares me that guys like Tucker, McCabe,
Kaberle and even Sundin would rather play in Toronto and lose then go to a
cup favourite making the same money.
Boyle is currently building a mansion in Tampa, he could have easily said no
thanks i'll stay for 6 seasons. He signed the deal 5 months ago.
