Price keeps the Habs in the game in the first period with some nice
stops. Gives his team a chance to win which they eventually did.

Impressed with the honesty of the Pens TV guys who also thought there
should have been a call against the Pens on the first goal. Yeah Sid
was pushed a little but not to the extent that he went into Price.

A great result and hopefully he follows the legacy of starting in
Pittsburgh! Dryden! Roy! Anything even close will make me happy for
many years to come.

I too was surprised by the broadcasters and the controversial goal.
If that was a laffs / habs game, do you think Bob Cole would have said
something like that? Nah.......Great win, wow, and we outshot them on
top of all that despite limited powerplays. 5 of 6 points, nice!

Something that was mentioned on Sportsnet tonight as well, both Dryden and
Roy started and won their first game in Pittsburgh, then led the Habs to the
Cup that year.

Follow the legacy indeed. Here's hoping.

I think Roy's first win was the exact same day.

Of course, a deeper analysis shows he played 20 minutes and made a grand
total of 2 saves for the win! That may qualify as on of the cheapest first
wins in NHL history! Sort of irionic.

I also thought the Pens announcers were very unbiased over the entire
game, which is nice. They were not very exciting but they were fair.
Price was solid, but not fantastic. The chances were not great scoring
chances IMO, Huet could've easily won the game. The first goal was
retarded , especially after Higgins' penalty earlier in the season.
Gorges was also solid in his limited time.

Game, was way boring! People in this newsgroup complain about NJ style
all the time.....ours was just as bad tonight. Not the normal game you
would expect with these two teams.

Good point, but NJ won a few Cups and I'd certainly take that at this point.

Steve

P.S. It looks like you're venturing into the realm of us rational folk. No
unwarranted Koivu bashing since the season started. Maybe there is
hope.......
