I've twice played on teams where a guy got diagnosed with cancer
(thyroid both times both still fine). We found that it really brought
everyone together, especially when things were tough as It kind put
things in perspective. We actually used to joke with one guy about
him literally being a cancer in the dressing room. It's kind of dark
humour but he actually thought it was funny. But you aren't going to
hear that one in the media or they'd get lynched.
Here's hoping he has a great year.
