Here's the thing about Nilsson. After you've been a prospect for so many
years, your chances of breaking in as a major player deteriorate to
nothing. That's why I was less upset about unloading him to you guys and
taking a chance on Smythe than many people out here on the Isle were.

The whole thing about being an 'offensive' prospect in this league should
translate into utilizing those skills. When you play in a system like
Mactavish's (DEFENSE 1st), these kids get totally messed up. Of note is that
Nillsson was assigned to Springfield AHL this am.

As far as Ryan Smyth is concerned ............... he's full of heart and
it's authentic - but as you folks in NYI found out, .. the tears of loyalty
are fake (and in the end it's $ that matters).

Wow, 5 games in and the crying begins? When a good portion of the roster
of a team are kids, there are bound to be growing pains. Yeesh.

There's gonna be more than growing pains when you try and make defensive
linemen out of running backs.

I guess the season is over already, huh? At least wait for an appropriate
time to panic- say, if the team were 15 games under .500 at the halfway
point of the season.

It's always going to be painful if running backs are all you're able to
get as building blocks.

I have two problems with that statement.
1. Appropriate time ??? There's no time like the present
2. Panic ........... it's not panic, son - just stating the obvious

uhhhh .............. that may call for heads - not panic. And it's also not
appropriate - because at that point it's to late

Totally disagreed ! Steeds, running backs .... call em' as you wish - but
that's what it takes to win. And if you're going to coach with a style that
stymies the steeds .......... the steeds will eventually stop running
