If you don't know THE SYSTEM, you simply don't know hockey. THE
SYSTEM is, much like gaffer tape, cold beer, and hot strippers, a bond
that holds the universe together.

THE SYSTEM is, historically speaking, the only thing that has saved
The Detroit Red Wings from their shitty players, retarded GM,
god-awful prospects, illiterate fans, and brain-dead owner.

While THEY SYSTEM is not easily defined, it's powers are nearly
without limit. THE SYSTEM literally allows the Red Wings to rack up
wins without actually having to show up for games, which is handy as
the Red Wings could never hope to win a single game without it. It's
especially effective against Central Division foes.

Word is, those vile Colorado Avalanche are trying to get their greasy
little hands on THE SYSTEM. There's some thinking in the scientific
community that with the power of THE SYSTEM, they might actually have
made the playoffs last year.

as we all learned, they're the best ninth place seed out there.

we need to make up some bumper stickers that just pay tribute to THE
SYSTEM, or acknowledge its power in some way... it could be our own
little inside joke...

Tom, here's an idea for a sunny Saturday afternoon:

Go back and reread your opinions on every Red Wing on this roster
(from Datsyuk is no better than Vrbata to Lidstrom is too soft to
Maltby is an AHL'er to Draper is a scrub whose only claim to fame is
having his face rearranged). Aside from Chelios, I'm sure you'll find
more disparaging remarks than praise for each player.

Then, go back and reread everything you've ever written about Ken
Holland.

Lastly, go back and reread everything you've ever written about
Detroit prospects.

You've basically said, at one time or another, that they're all either
scrubs or terribly overrated.

It looks like we're left with THE SYSTEM, with possibly a little help
from Mike Babcock and Chris Chelios.
