A lot of folks have been pointing the finger at the defense lately. I've
got to say that Schubert has been brutal on defense this year. He's much
less dangerous to the Sens when he plays on the fourth line. I know the
word is that he's valuable as a swing man and he plays D when a defenseman
takes a penalty, but every time I watch him back there, it's a train wreck.
I would end the experiment and keep him at forward. Management has to focus
on acquiring a solid defenseman for the stretch run and the playoffs,
instead of drooling over that elusive second line centre. Rob Blake may be
too expensive in terms of giving up one or more starters, but if they could
package one of the goalies in there, it could work out.
