Well, ironically, they do have one.

RW....

I wonder if this is a first.... making the team as a coach when none
of your players were voted on?

The reserves aren't announced until tomorrow. Thornton and Nabby will be
named then.

Right.

I'm talking about fan voting.

I'm somewhat surprised JT wasn't *voted* on.

I'm not--with Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Iginla as starters, who would you
expect him to beat? Especially with Detroit's start.

Maybe Nabby isn't such a lock. Osgood has to be the first reserve. I didn't
realize LeClaire got more votes and Nabby was so far down in the voting.
Probably between those two and maybe Hasek for the other spot.

I dunno about that. In the popularity contest that is the All-Star
game, Ozzie doesn't stand much of a chance. Without a fancy mask or
nickname, no big flashy saves, and not even being the full-time
starter on his own team, he'll have a hard time getting the respect he
probably deserves for just playing really well. Of course, having his
coach as the All-Star coach may help him out some...

Nabby unfortunately doesn't get enough exposure in most of the league
to garner a lot of votes. Too bad, really.

Fan voting for allstars is merely a silly popularity contest and has
ZERO to do with performances.

OK, we can get back to real hockey, now.

I would hope that 19-2-1 and #1 in GAA and save pct might help as well...

Now that Luongo's out, more room for goalies. Though if every team has to
have one rep, that might influence the choices.

According to CNN/SI, Cheechoo will be there too. That, I don't get. Are
there that many SJ fans that swamped the voting? If so, why did Marleau
get so few votes in comparison? I think it may be his one-hit-wonder dream
season that the rest of the NHL fans remember. Certainly, this cannot be
based on his performance the past season-and-a-half.

We could all hope so, but since when has performance mattered as much
as popularity?

This is true! I haven't been paying attention to the voting, but
based on a gut feeling, I'd say likely goalies for the West are
Giguere, Khabibulin, and one of Kipper, Ozzie, Nabby, Turco, or Hasek
(on rep alone). Although now that I think about it, Osgood probably
does deserve to go, plays for a team that gets a lot of publicity, and
I'd just love to see what happens to Hasek's psche if Osggod got voted
in and he didn't. I suspect it would be the return of the team
destroyer.

Yeah, my fiancee (who has access to sports news at work) just let me
know about that. Legace? Really? I don't get that. But, as I
mentioned, hopefully now Hasek will revert to being a team cancer
again.
