What do you think of the new regime thus far? I know it's a bit early, but
I'm not sure that Melrose is doing the best thing for the Lightning here.
Malone may be a good pick up, but Recchi? Honestly he should have retired a
few years ago. I also don't think much of letting Boyle go. Hopefully this
works out, but it's looking like the cost cutting of old at play here. Olaf
Kolzig?
How much does Khabibulin want? >> Stay informed about: Sharon |

Roberts and Recchi are the 2008 versions of Andreychuk and Taylor, I
would assume. I think they're being brought in more as mentors than
for the impact they'll have on the ice. Recchi's game really picked up
after he was let go by Pittsburgh, hopefully, that will carry over.
From a strictly business perspective and with an eye to the future, the
Boyle trade was a very smart move. He is going to be 38 years old at
the end of that contract and $6.7M is a heckuva lot of money for a
38-yo offensive defenseman who undoubtedly will have declining skills
by that time. Carle's supposed to be very good (although he had a
sophomore slump last year) and lots of folks I know are salivating over
Wishart.
Same thing for Kolzig, more of a mentor for Smith, a replacement for
Marty Turco. Certainly a lot better back-up than Johan Holmqvist!
Ollie probably has a chip on his shoulder after the way he was let go
from the Caps, hopefully if he plays against them he can do as well for
us as he used to do against us...
> How much does Khabibulin want?
I love Khabby, but no thanks. He's out of shape & injury prone, a
shell of the goalie he was when he was here. Not worth what it would
take to land him via trade & not worth the close to $7M salary & cap
hit.
One thing is for sure - it's refreshing to have ownership that's
interested in the team & is willing to make moves it thinks need to be
made to put a winning product on the ice. No matter where we finish in
the standings, I feel pretty safe saying we should at least be a lot
more entertaining than we were the last 2 years.

Nowhere to go but up. Nice to see some moves to improve the team rather
than just fill holes as they have done for the last couple of seasons. >> Stay informed about: Sharon |

Absolutely. At least they're *trying,* which is more than we'd been
doing.

As much as it kills me to say this...with as bad as your team was last
year, your team is just the opposite this year. The Bolts are
contenders. Stamkos will be as good as Crosby. He will be better than
the best Lecalvier can offer. This is the best draft pick that Tampa
has ever made and Stamkos ranks right up with the best of the best to
ever play in the NHL.
So quite yer complain' and enjoy the team you got while you got it.
Hell I am going to have to come back to Tampa to watch this team this
year but hopefully my Habs will kick your teams ass in the end!

OK, I hope you're still happy with the makeup of this team, because I think
we have the makings of a disaster. I haven't seen one thing that gives me
the impression they will even sniff the playoffs this season.
There is no way the team that called themselves the Lightning a year ago was
this bad.

17 new players, new system, new coach. I think many of the new players
are more talented than those we had last year. I think I've always had
a fairly realistic outlook, which is that it's going to take time and I
look for inconsistency until at *least* mid-November. The last 2 games
before this one they looked much better, last night they took a step
back.
I'm not heading to the Skyway just yet. >> Stay informed about: Sharon |

I just think they're taking too many steps back these days.
It's mid-November and after last night's drubbing by the Panthers, it's not
looking very promising.
Another defenseman traded away..
Pure genius!!
Tonight, the reigning champs are in town. It's time for them to show what
they are made of. A good showing against Detroit, would go a long way in
building some confidence, which, right now, they are sorely lacking. >> Stay informed about: Sharon |

To be fair, they got a defenseman (at half the price) and a forward in
return, and that defenseman has been one of our best players since the
trade... >> Stay informed about: Sharon |
