I have to admit... for me, the Sens TV PPV presentation is absolutely
terrific. The picture, the sound, the format, the on-the-fly interviews,
the whole thing, is really outstanding. Interestingly, the broadcast
suggests a sense of intimacy in its frequent informality, so there's much
more a sense of "being there" than with the network broadcasts. I find
it's just great. Although, naturally, the experience is profoundly more
satisfying when our side wins...
The guys gave me a scare last night when they shifted into cruise-mode in
the 3rd and allowed themselves to be swarmed by the Sabre forwards.
Fortunately, the Sens were able to shift into gear again and finish them
off, bit the mental lapses can be disturbing, especially when they gain a
comfortable lead.
Regardless, from the perspective of a hockey fan enjoying a Friday night
hockey game, this is a fun-to-watch, tremendously talented hockey team.
Some of the plays they put together are like poetry on ice. I love
watching them play. Somehow, 82 games in the season just doesn't seem
like enough...

One thing: they have to do something about the siting of the microphones that
are intended to record crowd noise. As in last year's playoffs, they sited a
mike near a board that someone pounded on through most of the second and third
periods. It drowned out the commentary and even much of the crowd's reaction.
I found it really annoying.
The game, however, was very well played, and the long stretches of end-to-end
skating (once McGrattan and Peters got the punching out of their systems) were
really exiting.

i agree with all of you, i find that the PPV broadcasting has more a
sense of almost being at the rink, in that its done witha more laid-
back style, but still retains its formality. And you barely even
notice that there are the commercial breaks during the game because
they have so much extra stuff they show during those times (i caught
myself a couple times getting irritated because i thought i was
missing the game haha).
I too did find it very annoying the banging on the glass (they should
have to screen the people that sit in those seats haha) >> Stay informed about: Slick! |
