Archived from groups: uk>sport>ice-hockey (more info?)

Just tried to check the Steelers site and I find "Freenetname: You can
no longer access this site". Typical! Trying to run a website on the
cheap (I know from experience FNN are a bunch of cowboys). On the Elite
League site I notice they also have a Freeuk email address (nothing
wrong with them, but free? A league ice hockey team?)
A decent web host isn't expensive.

You do it on the cheap, you get a cheap job. I now pay for my domain
name hosting, £30 a year. Totally reliable host. Don't tell me the
Steelers can't afford even twice that for the next level of hosting to
mine?

So someone forgot to tell the Elite League then, 'cos that's what's
linked from there. And from most of the other sites I've looked at,
including the supporters' club roller hockey team.

And, when you look at the top of their own page...!

As you say. Freenetname have a habit of not reminding customers that the
domain is due for renewal until after the date, when they want double
the rate. I can understand anyone taking umbrage at that, as I did, but
for an organisation the size of the Steelers the cost is minimal. It
does seem stupid not to retain an obvious domain name that is well known
and used by many for the sake of a hundred notes or less.
