Chosen by the Leafs 98th. He was ranked number 20th by the Hockey
News....seems like a good gamble.

He's a great gamble. Unless there's some missing info about injury,
attitude, or dirty laundry, he's a surprising prospect at that spot.
TSN compared him to ... Frank Mahovolich (high-talker?).

THN - 20
Red Line - 33
McKeen's - 39
TSN - 38
Intl Scout - 57
CSB - 57 NA

So does this mean that he was the third round pick or fourth at 98?
I'm a little confused about the Schenn deal. As far as I can see, we
kept our 2nd round pick meaning the Islanders get it next year but
that also means they would have taken out 3rd rounder this year
correct?

BTW, I like our picks this year.

4th round. Leafs regular pick.

Not quite. Our 2nd round pick ended up in Nashville via Phoenix in
the Yanic Perreault gummup from two years ago. The Islanders decided
to take Leafs 2nd rounder next year (smart move, it'll be better than
this year's slot 29 times out of 30). Isles moved pick 68 to
Chicago.for the Bawks 72 and 102.

Looks like Don Messer got on before the game again, eh?

Except for Schenn, they're raw material at this point. Stefanovich
looks interesting. From the size and weight of these guys, I figure
Wilson plans on adding caber tossing to the training camp schedule.

The Star had an article about the size of the guys drafted.

My first though was of John Brophy telling the GM at the time to take
Luke Richardson with a pick cause the other scrawny guy there were
thinking about was too small. some guy named Sakic...

I hope some of these guys pan out.

Sens went the other way with their first pick and picked up a tiny
Dman who grew up in Alfredsons home town.

Leafs brought in way too many lilliputnians imo. Starting to look like
they were in a kickback scheme with Samsung.

Interesting article. Both their risk picks had off-ice issues.

Bad year to lose that 38-spot. Each year has its own rhythm, but you
can twiggle the digit to compare year2year:-

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2008e.html Add your own thought-
sauce to explain the patterns, right?

He looked like the happiest pick, fer sure. Alfie looked like he was
on a day-pass from Gitmo. Where'd Crusty go?
Too bad Duthie's interviews with a few of the guys was less than
incisive, eh?
