Will Downie be brought up to the Flyers when he returns from suspension?

Would be nice to see him with the big club . he can score!

I suspect he will, but he's going to have to get some AHL time in
before he's ready to come back. He's currently suspended there too,
although he can begin playing in November. The main concern for the
Flyers will likely be how well they are playing--if they have good
chemistry (as they do now) they might keep Downie on the Phantoms just
to prevent the distractions he could cause. Conversely, if they are
playing poorly, they might bring him up to jump-start the team.

He'll be back with them sooner than later after his suspension ends.
The games he'll get to play with the Phantoms will have him back NHL
shape when he's done.
Downie was used by the NHL to send a message. He was an easy target.
If that was Jerome Iginla or some other high end player probably 5
games max. That being said, I'd like to see head shots gone so I don't
have a problem with the length of the suspension. But, only two weeks
after, I saw Jordan Tootoo go after someone's head just like Downie
did. Only difference was he barely clipped the guy so he didn't hurt
him. The intent was fully there. Anyone hear if Tootoo was
suspended......so now I'm starting to have a problem with it. I also
saw two serious hits from behind in the Ottawa Florida game last
night, one resulting in a guy leaving the ice on a stretcher. Any
takers on a bet that we will hear of no suspensoins out of that game
in the next couple days........
Anyways, I think Downie will be a very valuable asset to the Flyers
provided he can keep a level head. Problem is, no one knows if that's
possible. Good skater, great on the forecheck, good hitter and really
good hands. I'm looking forward to him adding even more scoring depth
on the front end, plus being that aggitator type player that the
Flyers haven't had since Jonesey left.

He wasn't. I almost started a thread on the exact same hit. It looked
almost identical in every aspect as the hit by Downie. The only difference
was, unlike Kappy, Tootoo didn't leave his feet. The intent and manner was
identical to Downie's hit.

He took a long run at some unsuspecting player coming from behind the net.
It really does look like the severity of the injury, or lack thereof, is a
deciding factor in any suspension.

I'm not so sure the Flyers will hurry him back into the lineup. It all
depends on injuries but I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay with the
Phantoms for at least half the season with the occasional call-up. If he
would stick with the Flyers right after his suspension it will become a
distraction and he certainly won't get the benefit of any calls until he
earns some respect. A few months or more in the AHL won't do him any harm.
