The Evil Darth Wirtz is not preparing for the teams future, he is preparing
for his fnancial future. It has seemed to me in the course of becoming a fan
of both the NHL and the Blackhawks that this man just might be the single
worst owner in all of professional sports. I usually side with ownership on
things like payroll, trades, etc. as by-and-large, most owners are trying to
remain competitive while making a profit. I understand that. But, what we
have here in Chicago is... nearly criminal in that he charges a full price
major league fee for a product that, at its very best, is minor league. I
would argue the on ice participants are the most professional part of this
franchise despite their poor performance...at least their is effort and a
desire to win. Wirtz is a miserly fool. He has hurt the NHL because Chicago
is a major market and he will not televise home games. The NHL loses every
time this happens because it alienates the fans in the 3rd largest media
market, it diminishes the respect and sense of history that this original 6
team is certainly due. Message from a fan: Wirtz, go to hell.
