The Rangers are asking the league to recind the game misconduct:
The Rangers are formally requesting NHL Director of Officiating Stephen
Walkom to rescind the game misconduct assessed to Colton Orr in Wednesday's
victory over the Hurricanes.
Orr received a game misconduct in addition to a five-minute major for
interference for the second period collision that sent Matt Cullen
face-first to the ice. Cullen, who was cutting from right to left with the
puck and his head down, briefly lost consciousness and sustained a broken
nose upon impact with the ice.
There was no immediate signal for a penalty. When Cullen's injury became
obvious-and only after Orr was jumped by Mike Commodore, who escaped without
an instigator penalty referees Dean Warren and Marc Joannette and linesmen
Brian Murphy and Anthony Sericolo convened at the boards. The discussion
yielded the verdict.
"We were both coming pretty hard. We were both just coming to the middle,"
said Orr, who did not finish the check so much as find himself unable to
avoid it, and who suffered several cuts around the right eye when he was hit
with Cullen's helmet. "I was just defending myself."
"I don't want to see anyone get hurt, but I need to protect myself, as
well." >> Stay informed about: Not Only No Suspension For Orr |

Ha! That's crazy. Why would he get penalized for hitting a fellow Ranger? >> Stay informed about: Not Only No Suspension For Orr |

Well that's just asking for a team unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

The wording of the title of this thread makes it sound like Campbell
ruled against suspending Orr. Is that true? Or is the title just a
hopeful statement? >> Stay informed about: Not Only No Suspension For Orr |

I can't find a cite right now, but the notes section of one of the
pre-game stories I read (probably either in the Post or the News) said
that there would be no supplementary discipline.

Don't know but these things are usually settled quickly, within a day
or two I would expect the Rangers to know the answer possibly before
tonight's game being that they're playing in Toronto..
Understand though, because Campbell feels it does not warranted a
hearing, fine or suspension does not mean he thinks it wasn't a
deserved penalty. He could think the major and misconduct were
appropriate and sufficient. If that's the case, the misconduct will
still stand against Orr's record. For Orr to be exonerated to a
degree(the major minutes are not coming off), the misconduct will need
to be rescinded.

Now rescind the the game misconduct!
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/hockey/rangers/2007/12/28/2007-12-28...an_aver
COLTON IN CLEAR: Colton Orr's hit that knocked Carolina's Matt Cullen
unconscious and broke his nose Wednesday will not result in a fine or
suspension as NHL VP Colin Campbell ruled it unworthy of a hearing or
review.

I don't know how accurate this is, but I heard through another source
that MSG said the misconduct has been rescinded. >> Stay informed about: Not Only No Suspension For Orr |

Well, apparently the Rangers got their answer from the league. A big
"we're sorry" to the tune of 10 PP's tonight. >> Stay informed about: Not Only No Suspension For Orr |

To be fair there was only 1 call that was bad (first period hook or
slash or something -- I don't remember which Leaf it was on, but
Prucha was the victim).
All the other ones were the lazy Leafs shooting themselves in the foot
all night long. Plus, once it got to 5-0 the Leafs were pretty much
allowed to high stick and hold to their heart's content. >> Stay informed about: Not Only No Suspension For Orr |

Didn't see the game, watching Rangers in 60 right now. So far after
one, they haven't mentioned anything. Maybe they announced it during
the pre-game.
