So Manny was brought here for a goaltending upgrade? I thought Chia was
drunk when he first said that. Now, with Milbury concluding last night that
Thomas is this team's no. 1 (as well as the rest of the sane B's fans) how
does Chiarelli justify a 4 million dollar backup goalie who is as effective
as Toivonen was last year? Last season Toivonen was so bad they had to
overuse Thomas. Manny needs to pick it up big time to avoid the same, yet
more expensive situation. Way to go Chia. You really thought that one out.

For the life of me, I'll never figure out how some people thought
goaltending was the problem last year. TT put up superb numbers when you
consider he had the worst defense in the league in front of him. Chiarelli
can't isolate the real problems can he?

Tim Thomas is the best goddamn goalie in hockey!

I could see out of town media and Canadien broadcasters saying the B's
needed an
upgrade. But for the guy that watched the team every night, and fired
the coach after
one year (on a 4 year deal), it seemed stupid. Its almost as if he was
questioning his
own ability to judge his own team. So he made a move that would get
him some good
press around the league and he wouldn't look like he didn't know what
he was doing.

That said, we are stuck with Manny because of his salary, so we better
hope he finds
a way to stop feeling sorry for himself and starts playing like he's
capable. I don't see
Julien run Thomas into the ground like Lewis did.

About JJ's comments... - I just checked on the salary commitment of Ottawa and Buffalo... Ottawa spent about 200 thousand less than the Bruins. Buffalo spent about 1.5 million less. The average team salary was 41.7 million. The B's spent about 43.7. Only 11 teams spent..

Byron Bitz Impressions - I was very fortunate in that I was able to attend several Cornell home games the last two years. I was aware that Byron Bitz was a Bruins draft choice, so I did pay keen attention to him. I can describe my impression of him as the second coming of..

Brad Stuart - I read that the B's lose the 4th Round Pick they got for Jurcina from Washington because Stuart didn't re-sign with the Flames. So, we got nothing for Jurcina. Oh well, at least Stuart didn't get the big money he had hoped for, he really mailed it in las...
