And he scored a goal against the Panthers last night, wearing #27.

I thought, for a brief second, that perhaps Scott Niedermayer had made
his triumphant return. I had to rub my eyes to make sure.

When they finally retire that #27, it will be because of Mike Mottau,
not Scott Niedermayer.

Still in the NHL?

He was signed as a "local hero" last year, for the Lowell Devils, I guess to
put asses in the seats.

That didn't work, so now, inexplicably, he's our sixth defenseman. I guess
they'll
keep rolling the dice until they learn their lesson.

Hey! I don't think you can qualify as a Ranger castoff after just two
games! There's pride, tradition and money built into that equation.
And besides the last Devils player to sign with the Rangers for 45
million+ got to watch his former team skate the Stanley Cup that year
- so let's not jinx the tradition this early into the season.
