I prefer a Sens/Wings final...
- no west coast start times
- Pronger the bully/thug sent home early
- opportunity to teach Hasek a lesson he won't soon forget
- wings are just a better snack
- possible octopus sighting

I definitely prefer the Wings because of the time zone. We also know that the
Sens beat them in the regular season. Plus, I have Datsyuk, Lidstrom,
Holmstrom, Zetterberg and Hasek in a pool; if they do not go through, I am up
the proverbial.

Hey knobby,

If it's Sens-Ducks or if it's Sens-Wings all games will be on at 8:00pm
eastern. The NHL doesn't start games to favour the western zones.

Let me see.

It was smoked Penguins as an hors d'oeuvre,
Devilled Buffalo as the second course.

Hmmm, BBQ Wings or Roast Duck for the main course ?

I think that the Duck might be a bit tougher than the Wings and would
take a bit longer to chew but ultimately would be more tasty and
satisfying.

And washed down with champagne, drunk from the Stanley Cup, in Ottawa
in front of the Hometown fans. Of course.

I want Ana for the same "pool" reasons. I do have Datsyuk and Lidstrom
picked too, but so does the only guy ahead of me, however he has no Ducks
picked. Selanne, McDonald and Niedermayer haven't been helping me much
despite holding 2nd of 22 in my pool, but if they go on they might be my
ticket :-) I picked players from Det, Ana, Ott and Buff, that worked out
pretty well.

Sens over Ducks in 7 with lots of high scoring games would be ideal for pool
and good hockey viewing.

Well, so far all non-weekend west-coast games have stared at 9 or later, so
I don't imagine that would change for the Finals.

Shame for all the young kids who want to watch.

Are you a new NHL hockey fan???

The NHL hasn't played games past 9pm in the Stanley Cup for freaking AGES.

The actual time that the game starts is not the significant issue. The
time-zone itself is the issue. If it's the Ducks, then for away-games,
the Senators must travel to their time-zone which has a 3-hour time
differential. If it's a 2 hour flight, then the Sens, according to their
own internal clocks, would arrive 1 hour before they actually left. Our
physiology balances itself to our routines over time. That's why we
usually get hungry around the same time, or sleepy around the same time.
At this elite level, absolutely anything that may throw a player's
physiology off, even a little, may affect his mood, his timing, his
ability to make decisions quickly, etc. etc. Obviously, this can
diminish a whole team's 'edge'. It's better if it can be avoided.
Granted, it goes both ways, and the other team has to deal with it for
away-games as well. However, it's much better if it's a complete non-
issue to begin with, as would be the case with an Ottawa/Detroit series.

Unfortunately, however, we don't get to pick and choose which team
wins the Western Conference. It's looking more and more like it could
be Anaheim.

Words of wisdom: never underestimate the resilience of the geriatric
generation. Many of the Detroit players managed to endure the whole
Second World War without suffering a scratch, and come back to win in the
end. :o) I fully expect the seniors to rebound and win tonight's game in
Anaheim. Game #7 is anybody's guess...

Sens season ticket holder since Day 1.

9pm still would have been kinda late for young kids.

There has only been one west-coast team in the last 13 years in the finals,
Anaheim in 2003.

Ok, I looked it up and, yes, in 2003 it was all at 8pm. That was ABC,
though, who knows what NBC would have wanted?

Now it's all settled and at 8pm, and we've got TWO (2) Saturday games, so we
can all be happy.
