The US is the only relevant country in the world that has a significant
NHL participation.

I'm trying to infer what "relevant" means here. So "relevant" in
this newsgroup isn't about the NHL.

So what *does* make a country "relevant"? Relevant to what subject
at issue? The Avalanche? I see the Subject line is "Re: Wings
After Sopel".

The U.S. actually has more consistent English than the UK or even
England does.

What does "pure" mean in this context?

Still baiting, I see. A lifelong hobby, I suppose.

No, relevant to the world. There are four countries that are relevant to
the world. This thread is off topic, so don't think that it has to have
anything to do with hockey.

Of the four relevant countries in the world, the US is the only one with
a significant NHL participation. Another of the four has had a couple
players make it, and a third has had one player make it and play a
couple games.

One day someone with time on his hands will compile a compendium of
mis-translations. It'll be great, an immediate best-seller.
I once worked unloading a container crane off a ship that had been built in
Shanghai. The crane, I mean, not the ship. As you walked out on the catwalk
on the boom of the crane there weas a series of cross-braces to duck under
and each one had painted on it, "No Hitting You Head". For some reason, I
like that.
