I think we actually knew all along that for the Rangers to accomplish
anything, Lundqvist NEEDS to be the best goalie in the league or something
very close to it. Their defense did get good there. There were some nights
were Lundqvist didn't need to be great. But again, suddenly they play with
no intensity or serious effort. Laziness and half-assed play has entered
their game. Coincidentally it occurred when Avery went out. Just like it was
the case when he wasn't here last season or at the start of this season. And
hey, maybe it's got nothing at all to do with him. But it sure is some kind
of major coincidence that they are devoid of consistent effort whenever he
happens to not be playing. And really that's just completely pathetic.

I don't blame Valliquette. It's not his fault that he isn't very good. The
Rangers management decided to go with a backup that wasn't good in training
camp and never really looked solid. So here he is.

A very common theme... "lazy".

Third goal actually was disallowed for some reason. It's the fourth goal
that was a gimme. An early little stocking stuffer. Merry Christmas Kozlov!

Fortunately they get to break out of their funk against the slumping Devils.
