I have just seen what I have to say is about the two worst games of
hockey I've seen in 4 or 5 years. The loss to Detroit was worse than
the 3-1 loss to the Leaves. The Stars have not scored in almost 120
minutes. Some of their passes were so bad last night, it looked like
they were trying to score on themselves. I can't blame Turco for a
single goal that went in either....no goalie could have made the
saves. I've seen Sweeny in all three of his games, and he is no help
at all. I'd rather have Sylvan Cote back.

I guess it's a good thing we hooked up with friends for a few brews last
night instead of coming straight home to watch the game.

What do you think is the problem? I've been reluctant to post this question
because it's so early in the season and I keep telling myself it's way too
soon to worry, but...

Motivation and desire.

The Stars haven't had a desire to play 60 mins of hockey for a couple
of years now. Sometimes (like tonight against Columbus) they get lucky
and pull out the win even though they wouldn't play 60. Obviously that
doesn't work so well win you play a team that wants to win and has the
talent to do so. In those cases they lose or tie. Makes for a .500
season, which is what I expect they'll do this season.
