Absolutely! The slump eliminated that nice cushion we had in the
standings - "every" game really counts now. I'm hoping they implement an
attack-down-the-middle type of offence to draw Zdano Chara into the open
ice. He turns like an ocean liner and can be easily victimized by
slippery forwards with speed like Alfie, Spezz or Vermette, especially
while he's focusing on trying to stop our 50-goal sniper who currently
has 6 goals in his last 3 games (Chara's a -3 vs Sens).
The Sens D is definitely not as effective without Volchenkov though. It
seems like twice as many shots actually get through to the net without
him there. He also has great communication with his linemates and the
goaltenders. However if the Sens can score first, the odds are pretty
good they can pull off a nice road win. Heatley needs at least one to
keep his streak going before he lulls again. I hope Gerby is great again
too (I'm assuming he'll play).
