Enjoy your relaxation, Mats, we will still have the cap room when you're
ready.

Welp, that's fairly silly of him, IMO. Unless he chooses not to play. If he
doesn't want to play, then that's fine, he has lots of money. But if he
eventually chooses to play, he's just started the process of limiting his
own options simple because he couldn't make a decision by a deadline. Just
ditering really, and if he decides to play it'll likely be for a team that
offers less than the highest offer he's already received, and with less a
chance at a Cup as the hottest pursurers right now. Hmm. Gotta wonder if
he'll end up right back in TO.

Anyway, none of this is to say I wouldn't love to see him in Hab's uniform,
but teams can't leave $7-8 million in cap space available just in case
Sundin decides to play August 24th, or whenever.

I don't think Bob is done yet. I see some minor tweaking. God only knows who
it will be. Hopefully he won't chase Jagr.

True enough, Marty, but in all honesty looking at the remaining free agent
pool, I would prefer Bob keep the space and look into trades or Mats later
on.

Gotta respect the guy though. He's been saying all along he wasn't sure
and it sure looks like he meant it.

Not sure if I respect unecessary procrastination over greed, but yes, he
was being honest, which means his reluctance to Gainey's offers was not a
personal slight to the Habs, so that is nice to know. And if Sundin can
live with his decision with no regrets even after he finds doors closed to
him that were once open, I guess that's OK. He's a heck of a player and I
hope there's still a chance to get him, but only because he wants to come
here, not because we crazily match the insane offer he got from Vancouver.

You don't think he's done? He hasn't started yet, or at least we don't
know he has. I am still very suspicious of this Sundin thing. I got a
feeling they have a gentleman's agreement known only to the two of them.
Its the only explanation I can come up with that would explain Gainey
doing nothing to get someone.

He's had two months to make a decision either way...now he's just stringing
people along imho...

He's been saying for months he is undecided on his future so I'm not
sure stringing people along is a fair statement.

And he's had months to make a decision...it's not that complicated. Either
he wants to play or he doesn't.
