You're welcome, and it's better than what the NHL's top farm league (the AHL)
does to its scheduling. There are currently four divisions in two conferences
in the AHL, but the emphasis is on divisional play, of which Houston is an
example: in the 80-game regular schedule, there will be ten games against
Omaha, Iowa, and Peoria, then eight against Chicago and Milwaukee, and twelve
against San Antonio. That leaves 22 games, 16 of which will be against the
six teams of the other Western Conference division (two to each team, with
four for old IHL rivals Manitoba and Grand Rapids) - and the other six are
home-and-homes with Hartford, Worcester, and Manchester. The drawback is that
in this sixth AHL season in Houston, there are still several AHL teams who
have *never* faced the Aeros. (Springfield, Albany, Portland, Lowell, and
Binghamton have never faced off against them, and Hershey only in a playoff
series in the Aeros' first AHL season in 2001-02.) Such are the drawbacks of
having 27 teams in a minor league...
