Let Down Game - After the first goal when Dubinsky had 2 defensive zone turnovers within seconds of each other you knew it was going to be a long game. Then the old killer goal. They played better in the 2nd but still ho-hum. I fell asleep..

This game is over already - Is it opening day yet?

BIG GAME SATURDAY 9/22 - saturday, september 22, the BRONX GRIDLOCK battle the BROOKLYN at the Nat Holman Gymnasium at City College, 138th and Convent Avenue, doors open at 6:30, plus, an at the Ding Dong Lounge, call the hotline at for further..

1.6 goals per game - Wow! 2.8 is pretty mediocre. 2.4 is quite awful. 2.0 is abysmal. 1.6? that just doesn't seem possible. You'd think the only way that could happen is if it's entirely What a start!!!

Great Game!! - Sometimes this team puts crazy ideas in my head. Screw the gimmick shootout, I would have been satisfied with a tie. The boys are playing good hockey. Timmy

This kinda goes along with my gripe at the refs.

Ruutuu hit Kovalchuk, Kovalchuk got hurt, Ruutuu got a major penalty
for kneeing him. Then one of his buddies jumped Ruutuu, pinned him
against the wall and beat on the back of his head for about a minute.
Ruutuu got another major penalty for fighting and he's not even facing
the other guy. Atlant guy got 2 & 5, as the instigator, Ruutuu got 5
& 5, Atlanta winds up with 3 minutes of a major PP. I just don't get
how you can be called for fighting when you're leaning over the wall,
facing the other way.

Did Ruutu drop his gloves during it? If so, that's pretty much all
the refs care about when it comes to fighting. If not, then it's just
the referees deciding that what Ruutu did was worse than what the
Thrasher player did in defending Kovalchuk.

Looked to me Ruutu was interested in cleanly removing Kovalchuk's
head, but had to settle with breaking his knee or whatever happened.
It's hard to feel sympathy for him.

One thing you can say about Simon is that his thuggish brutality is
matched only by his utter incompetence when it comes to actually
causing any sort of real damage.

Like carpet bombing the ocean.

I don't know about that. I just watched something on cable about
potentially large methane deposits in said ocean. Highly combustible.

I think he left the gloves on. It was near the benches where there's
no glass. He was leaning forward over the wall, almost in the bench.
When they pulled the other guy off him, he went to the bench and sat
down like nothing happened. Nobody even knew he was getting a penalty
yet. They didn't escort him away until after they made up all the
penalties.

He's a lot like Avery or Tikkanen. A great teammate, but if he's on
the other team, you hate him.

Both Avery and Tik were more honest players than Ruutu. So was Claude
Lemieux. And Ulf Sammuelsson.

You obviously missed the next segment that discussed the large pocket
of methane gas located in Ryan Hollweg's abdomen.

Yeah, really. Someone should stomp on that Ruutu's tendons with a skate
or something.

From what I saw, the fighting major was a screw-up.

Like you said, he was on the bench, he didn't throw a punch. It should have
been 5 and game for Ruutu and 7 + 10 for McCarthy. 2 minute PP for the
Pens and nothing to see here. If they wanted to get Ruutu 2 for recieving,
even it up.

But are you honestly shocked the officials screwed something up? As for
the kneeing call, I can see why they made it.

Not really shocked, but doesn't somebody, somewhere, watch these guys?
They should go back to the minor league for a few games and see if it
straightens them out. If anybody else did his job that poorly, he
wouldn't have it for long.
