Oh that's clever. I'm sure no one thought of that. Or at least, if they did,
they had more class than you.
To choke Ottawa would have had to be a considerably better team. I don't see
any evidence of that. This is not that great a team, and I never had much
hope for them in the playoffs. In fact, I'm really surprised they even made
it to the finals. They shouldn't have. They didn't have the goaltending and
the multiple lines. They just aren't that good. Compared to last year's
team - when they had Hasek playing so well in the first half, and Chara
clearing the net, and Havlet doing his thing - that was a team that should
have taken the cup - if it weren't for Hasek's back. This year - if Gerber
hadn't been a disaster, and they'd found another high scoring line - well
who knows. But they didn't. And somehow their one big line got them all the
way to the finals. People should feel lucky they made it this far. >> Stay informed about: choke |

The Ottawas should have been last night. They were at home and
Anaheim was without their best player.

Jumping off already, eh?

Emery has been as good as anyone else in this playoff. And their
top three players are leading the league in scoring.

Since they made it to the final, the team is better this year than
last, by definition.

There is no such thing as luck. The Ottawas record reflects their
play, by definition. In sport, how well a team plays is reflected
only by the final score.
81 years. And counting.

Nope. Just losing to a team who happen to be playing a little better.
Sorta like what happens to the laffs all season long. >> Stay informed about: choke |

Wrong.

To a certain extent.

Did the player plan for the crazy bounces ? Didn't think so.
That's what sane and rational people call lucky bounces and what
argumentative twits like you and Roger seem to think is pure skill. >> Stay informed about: choke |

There IS no such thing as luck. Luck is a term that weak people apply
to events in their lives when things go their way, or don't. A player
scores three goals in one game, all of which take crazy bounces off of
other players' legs; you say luck, while a sane and rational person
says that, in each case, the puck deflected at the proper angle to
fool the goalie and pass the goal line. Between luck and physics, I'll
take the latter.

It's not over yet. Not untill the cup is handed out.
Sens fans are so happy their team made it to the Stanley cup finals,
got to party and watch hockey right through the spring unlike the poor
leafs that did not make it again... At least we have a better team.
Better every year just like you stated unlike the leafs. Oh and to top
it of we have leaf fans hanging around Senators group. mmm I wonder
why? Oh yeah they did not make it in the playoffs again, in fact they
are getting worse every year. I feel for leaf fans... NOT.
There is a force on this planet called luck. I am so sorry you never
got to experience it.
Go sens...

If that is your criteria for defining "luck" then _everything_ is a
matter of luck, since even the planning process itself cannot be
"planned." And if everything is a matter of luck, then nothing is a
matter of luck.
> That's what sane and rational people call lucky bounces and what

No. Terms like "luck" are used to describe situations where we
don't have enough information to predict those events. But the
information is there and if we were able to read that information,
we would be able to predict anything. In fact, a religious person
would hold that everything is part of God's Plan and, as such,
nothing is a matter of luck as you would describe it.
