On today's sports section of the news on CKNW (approx. 12:15), it was
announced that the corporate name would soon be changed from Orca Bay.
If that is the case, why stick with the "whale" logo?

actually I don't think they will see too many of these - I would be
suprised if they did!

I think the courthouse motif was too "busy" according to the design team
they hired.

Imagine a picture of that lawyer from The Simpsons as the logo. How
cool would that be;)

Nonis was interviewed on the RBall show by Moj, and he was going on
about the 'equity' the whale has in this market that being one of the
reasons to keep it, sounds like the decision was about finance (what a
shock) over looks. Maybe they are waiting for the Gagliardi/Beedie V.
Aquillini/McCaw trial to get settled before they make that kind of
change.

I think they should have just placed a "steaming pile" on the front
of it instead. After all it's not that much different.

Ding! Best answer I've heard so far.

What would they do if Johnny Canuck was the mascot? Have some huge crazy
lookin' guy running around the rink hitting little kids in the head with his
large foam rubber hockey stick?

Can't take credit for it. At the state of the franchise address
Zimmerman (a horrible little man, by the way) made a point of
saying they were keeping Fin. Of course they'd need a tie-in for
marketing purposes.

That would be only slightly less terrifying than being gummed by
Fin [sudb]. Happened to me once. It was decidedly...musty.

Well he is a lumberjack. He could be equipped with a cell phone and
the ladies could ring him up and get him to come over and give their
husbands or boyfriends wood.
