Concur. Obviously, the defense needs to be shored up, but this Hawks
team (lumbering Handzus notwithstanding) looks a lot quicker than any
Hawks lineup I've seen in quite a while, maybe even since the 94-95
Hawks that went to the conference finals.
Khabibulin let in a couple of softies, but three of those goals were
point blasts which were deflected. He also made a bunch of huge
saves.
Vokoun, on the other hand, was about as effective as a spaghetti
strainer tonight--uncharacteristic. At least tonight's game won't zap
Bulin's save percentage (85%) nearly as much as it will Vokoun's
(66%).
PK won the game for the Hawks--Nashville was 1-9, Chicago 2-2 on their
own power plays. That second power play goal was an instant classic
for the new "no-red-line" era--from the back of the Hawks zone, two
passes and a goal. Almost looked like a set play.
