Obyrne/Maxwell

Neither surprises me. OByrne needs ice time and confidence. Maxwell,
well didn't show me much of anything.

So they do not have any spare defencemen around. But of course O'Byrne
could not be used after he has been two weeks in the press box, so it is
better to play with five defencemen if someone is hurt.

It seems that they hope to get Saku Koivu back, because they will miss
Tanguay for some time as the diagnosis given so far is separated
shoulder. This would mean about one month. Even then they are likely to
call for someone, and Kyle Chipchura was actually first on the wish
list, when D'Agostini got his chance, but was hurt, so he will get his
chance now. My guess is, that Max Pacioretty will get a chance to show
what he is made of. Perhaps Koivu can help him to a good start, like he
did for D'Agostini.

I wonder if something is up. Tanguay supposedly is out for a month
(according to Ape), and now 2 guys are sent down. Either Koivu is coming
back and they plan to call up MaxPac and Chips, or else a trade may be in
the works, because without Tanguay and Koivu we are down to 18 players. Is
there a trade in the works?

Maintaining the minimum 20 or just 1 above that, which has been the Habs'
habit of late, would seem to indicate the desire to save cap space for a
future deal.....

Hopefully they call up another Dman, to tryout on the PP and maybe get
Breezy back to being a spare again. Or evaluate the need to trade for
another defencemen vice giving someone in the system a chance to step
up.

An interesting thought... - We're all expecting Price to rip it up in camp and turn Huet into excess baggage. But what if he doesn't? What if he and Halak are good, but not outstanding...and *Huet* is the best goalie? It gets a lot tougher for Gainey to pull the trigger on a..

What's happened to Souray? - Obviously he didn't want to return to Montreal, but if he ends up signing for 5 mill or less and doesn't go to the west coast isn't that just a little bit embarrasing for him? I think he overestimated his value some.

All I'm hoping... - ....is that the Habs win the Cup before 2011. Because if they don't win it by then, all the players in that draft year will have been born AFTER the Habs' last Cup. I think that's pretty much unprecedented in club history. In fact, I'm getting older. ...

Souray and the cap - Lets say that Souray realizes he's made a mistake. The only teams out there for him now are NJ (soon to be in rebuild mode) or the Islanders or other such teams. If you're Gainey and he comes back and says "Bob. I've thought about it and realize ...
