Okay I understand that you don't like Colorado and Elz but why don't
you think Colorado isn'r a playoff team. I'd say the only thing that
might keep them back is the goalie situation. IMO even if it is just
average they've got enough firepower to overcome it in the regular
season. In the playoffs it be a different story.

Agreed, if that goes horribly wrong they are in trouble, then again so is
any team that
happens to.

You never know how injuries will factor in except that there will be some,
but is this team
better than last season? Absolutely. Have the Avs improved versus the teams
that
finished ahead of them? For sure, Nashville is much worse, Dallas is no
better, same with the
3 other NW teams that made the post season last year.

They missed the playoffs entirely last season, won one series the season
before only because they played against one of the worst current goaltenders
in the league then got smoked in round 2. They still have coach Q coaching
them when he has never done squat with this team and their goaltending
situation is still a mess. Budaj will experience his sophmore jinx and with
the addition of the 2 players they signed during the offseason minus what
they lost.....until they do something on paper...or on the ice...they have
to prove to me there a better team. Otherwise...they'll continue to falter.

Forsberg, Foote and
Blake.

one in the

Smyth is there for his leadership, he's the best slot man in the game and he
does quite well
on the PK, if he gets 60 points I'll be satisfied.

A full season of Leopold, the subtraction of Brisebois and the addition of
Hannan with
Sauer getting more minutes is a major upgrade. Plus the Avs have lots of cap
room to
sign someone else or make a trade if need be.

I think either St. Louis or Nashville will squeak in, as they also
have 24 games against non-Detroit division teams.

As bad of a coach as you seem to think Quenneville is he has managed
to win the Jack Adams Coach of the Year Trophy. He also coached the
Blues to a President's Trophy.

Not really seeing as each team's situation is difference. Re-signed
Datsuyk who arguably is better than Smyth and signed Ralafski who is
better than Hannan. Since the plan is to play the young guys there is
no pressing need right now because there is a $5 million cushion now
to acquire a player(s) later and weak division advantage.
