The team just looked flat.

I hope it wakes them up. Argh that was tough to watch at the end. Here's
to a better and dominating performance in Game 6.

Yeah. I brought my Dad to the game - his first hockey action since
watching the AHL "Richmond Robins" in the 70s. I told him "The trend this
series has been that we come out flat, but then tear up the ice in the
3rd." Just the opposite - I thought we came out with decent jump in the
first, but what the hell was going on in the 3rd and in OT?

It looked like we were in the "prevent" defense - playing "not to lose"
instead of playing to win. The 30-45 seconds of ticky-tack behind the
Oilers goal instead of trying to get the puck to the middle was painful.

And a turnover in your own zone to allow a shorthanded breakaway in OT?
Gah.

I'm hoping the team will realize what they did tonight and come back
Saturday pissed off. We've burned one of our three chances to win that one
game we need. Only one more freebie left, and I've got to think it's going
to be tough to take another one in Rexall (Note to "news to me" - this does
not mean that I'm "rooting for a loss"). But it'll be in our best interest
to finish it off Saturday rather than risk the wrath of Game 7.

If it goes to 7, though, I've got my ticket. Sect. 303.
