I was joking Rusty..

That said weather in Edmonton has been better than Vancouver all winter.;)

Not a day where I couldn't go outside with a windbreaker and no non-stop
rain. I like Vancouver but theres a significant problem living where
EVERYBODY else wants to live. It once took me 2.5hrs to drive from Burnaby
to Chiliwack(pulling a trailer) which to those that wouldn't know is akin to
Edmonton to say Spruce Grove. There should be tranny shops all along the #1
highway in Vancouver environs as you inch up steep hills in bumper to bumper
non-stop traffic with drivers that hog turnout lanes like their very life
depended on it all the while muttering...."I love Vancouver, yes I do"
whilst firmly gripping the steering wheel and the Mega Starbucks saying
"Never again am I driving anywhere near here, I'll just stay home"

Enjoy the Olympic onslaught<G> Pop Vancouver 5M coming soon. :(

Actually isn't it Anaheim?

Before we got Tardystrom and Spazchek MacT was thinking of using "life size"
cardboard cutouts of Pronger strategically placed to *replace* Crossanov as
the 3rd pair. Woulda been interesting +/- comparison.

Burnaby to Chilliwack is more like Edm to Red Deer - not Spruce Gove.
My ex lived in Spruce Grove and I in West Edm and it only took 15-20
minutes to get out there. Yes, if you have to commute to get to
Vancouver your life is significantly effected - I live in Kitsilano so
driving isn't a must. That said - if you love to drive you may as well
live in Edmonton 'cause you can't go anywhere without

Try driving in either Seattle, San Fran, or Houston. Vancouver is like
driving in Stony Plain compared to those three.

Sorry, my goof. Anaheim makes sense - wouldn't want to scare the midget.

Distance from Burnaby to Chilliwack 84km . Distance from Edmonton to
RedDeer 150km.

Distance from my front door, yes, in Edmonton, to Spruce Grove 58km. If you
live anywhere BUT the westend in Edmonton Spruce Grove is a considerable
distance away. But thanks for coming out.....

ps if you have a car in Vancouver you may as well park it. Try going from
say Burnaby to Whiterock on a summer day sometime. Like any day.

Lee, I drove in many places. Seattle, LA, Across Canada, Toronto, England.
Worst driving I've seen is anywhere Near London England, LA, and Vancouver.

Vancouver gets honorable mention due to the geography, need for bridges, and
lacking the same. The Olympics, followed by another wave of massive
settlement (remember expo 86?, everybody that visits Vancouver seems to want
to live there.) I like it but to go anywhere in Vancouver area takes a
massive time commitment. Good place to visit but after two weeks I'm done
with it for a few years.

I've done the same, I've driven in every major western Canadian and US
city, and I've driven in Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal. Vancouver is
bad during rush hour times, as is any city, but normal driving I find
Vancouver fine. Seattle is a mess, San Fran with the hills and narrow
streets, LA is LA, Vegas is a pain only because of the strip, Houston is
huge, and again, designed by someone with dyslexia, and etc that are all
worse than Vancouver. Edmonton, Regina and Saskatoon are the easiest.

I can make it from North Vancouver to Tsawwassen in just over an hour at
any time but rush hour, and it's a simple drive that crosses the whole
city. I hate flying, so I drive, and Vancouver is easy compared to a
lot of the major US cities I've been in.

I'd hate to be like Poland and places like that from the stories I've
heard, you are sharing the road with people on foot, horse, carriage,
and 4 wheels, and none of them yield to the other.

not sure why I'd want to go to either White Rock or Burnaby when I
live in Kitsilano. I have everything I need within a 10 minute walk
from my house here in Kits - including the beach just 5 minutes away.

I can't believe your trying to debate how nice it is to live in
Edmonton because the driving is easier.

Have a nice to in the snow 'til May

Yeah, understood. I'd love to be based out of Kitsilano. Love the beach.
The whole neighborhood. Whenever I'm in Vancouver though I'm limited to
where they have RV parks so...I like Burnaby RV but should probably try
Capilano.

When we're at Burnaby we take skytrain/public transit most days and life is
good.

Part of my Vancouver traffic is awful shtick is based on pulling a trailer
and I've had my shares oif nightmares including once trying to find Capilano
RV WITH a trailer and after a 15 hr drive, engine overheating, me
overheating, and ending up missing a turn and going downtown(at a certain
point you can't deviate even though you know whats coming up!!) I can't
describe quite how tightly I was gripping the steering wheel as the traffic
inches forward at that point whilst considering putting up camp in Stanley
Park and waiting for somebody to try to kick me off <G>

Not at all Rusty. Vancouver Rocks. Really enjoy everything but the driving.
But being that my specific employment is driving intensive it needs to be an
important consideration for me wherever I choose to live.

Hate to be the harbinger of things to come here by invoking the snow gods
heh, but we forget what snow looks like in these parts. Not sure how long
you been gone Rusty but winter hasn't been harsh here for years. I can't
even remember a bad one.
