The teams can sign all their (UFA) players they want back by august 1st
without the potential of those players hitting the market, if they do so.
Their RFAs, obviously they have preference. I'm guessing they can talk to
potential UFAs, because, again I read something that said Craig Patrick has
been receiving calls from players who want to play with the Pens

I agree Kovalev has all the assets we still need. He could still become VERY
useful on the point again. We have no real solid PP blueliner as of yet
(none established). Mario has been quoted saying he's signing at least 1
other big name FA... maybe he's just waiting for a defenseman.
Good to see you back bmac ;) New season awaits us.

I've been reading a lot of NHL stuff, apparently there are 4 things Craig
Patrick is lookin for. The one article said something very similar to "The
Penguins are looking to gain from Free Agency. Craig Patrick said 'We have
an A,B,C, and D, and we just got A'" (Speaking of Crosby). Plus I think I
read a few other spots that they're definitely going to try to get a D-man.

Kovy, but I wouldn't kick Straka off the ice.
Go Pens,

Same. It's been a long time coming, and I'm elated they're back. I'm
still kinda iffy on the rules changes. I guess I would have preferred
they just enforce the holding, interference, and hooking penalties.
Anyway, we got "The Kid" , a new CBA that will benefit all teams, and
a renewed enthusiasm after being gone for so long. If MAF can stop
his propensity for allowing weak goals, the future looks bright for
the Pens.
Note: Jackman did a nice job on the point for the Pens late in the
season last played, didn't he???

As did Scuderi and Orpik, though Jackman did the best of the 3. I'd say,
along with Tarstrom, he's the most solid they have (until they get an FA) >> Stay informed about: Poll: Should the Penguins... |

I'd agree with that... but he's not a cornerstone for us.
Dick is good too but same boat. We need a solid reliable point man is what I
meant. Maybe dig into the market and sign one for 2.5 or 3 million.
