Oh man....can they do it losing another d-man (lebda, kronwall, schneider).
Wings play a team game - and schneider went out on the third shift of the
game - and SJ still did squat.
Look for the wingers to really come back to the d-zone tonight hard - they
play a team defense should they should be fine - but it will be tough.
Any word on Lebda?
Do not like Wilson calling his team/players out in the press - very bad
form. I look for Wings to finish it tonight. I also look for Lidstron to
have more ice time than hasek tonight... >> Stay informed about: game 6 |

It's official: Wings' Lebda will return for Game 6 tonight
May 7, 2007
By HELENE ST. JAMES
FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Defenseman Brett Lebda will play tonight when the
Red Wings take a 3-2 series lead into Game 6 against the Sharks.
Lebda hasn’t played since April 21, in Game 5 of the first-round
series against Calgary, when he injured his left ankle. Lebda said
shortly afterward that if this were the regular season, he’d be out
for four to six weeks.
But this is the playoffs, the Wings are short on defensemen, and that
required Lebda to come back maybe sooner than is better. The Wings
lost Mathieu Schneider for the playoffs after he suffered a broken
left wrist Saturday, and fellow top-four defenseman Niklas Kronwall
has been out since March 30 with a non-displaced fractured sacrum (he
might be able to return late this month).
Lebda’s return will help with depth, but since he hasn’t played in 10
days, his effectiveness is going to be questionable, and that probably
will mean more minutes for all the veterans: Nicklas Lidstrom, Chris
Chelios, Danny Markov and Andreas Lilja.

The shallow defense stuck to the system. The 3rd line scrub forwards
(which every Wings forward other than Datsyuk and Zetterberg are...The
Tooz hasn't shown that he's anything more than that, and Lang is only
useful on a scoring line once in awhile) stuck to the system. Hasek
hasn't quit yet, and if the team sticks to the system, he may not quit
this year.
Just because the Wings won the series doesn't mean they are deep.
Shallow teams win playoff series from time to time. Especially when the
teams they are playing against take dumps. Both Calgary and San Jose
have better rosters than the Wings do. Playing the way they can, both of
those teams are capable of sweeping the Wings.
We'll see what happens next round. I know Anaheim couldn't be happier
with the way things played out.

Right. But the Wings aren't that good a team, and they certainly didn't
do that in either of the two series so far.

Uh, yeah. That's what I have been saying all along. Work ethic,
coaching, commitment to a defensive system and goaltending are what the
Wings rely on.

I don't know. How is that relevant to our discussion?

So what exactly are you saying? That our score keepers were paid off. I
thought about that myself for a minute.

Good thing we called up Datsyuk and Zetterburg to fill up those water
bottles eh. The rest of the guys get thirsty with that kind of work ethic. >> Stay informed about: game 6 |
