OK, that's what we want to see. Or not, if you don't have Center Ice.
Oh, and BTW, classy move by the Sharks to take off tthe blackout for
the 10 blacked out games. It means nothing to me, but was classy
nonetheless. When you buy Center Ice you *should* get it all. Right?
Well, most NHL teams don't see it that way. The Sharks are a rare
exception.
Back to the game, this is everything the Sharks want to be.
Relentless. Big, against a big team. Opportunistic. Tough.
I almost think the Sharks are buying into the "we can play every
style" thing. No. Just play *that* style. You'll kill everyone
else. Tack? Comment? >> Stay informed about: Best game of the year |

Jamie Baker remarked on the style of play in the third. He said they
kept the foot on the gas in a way that did not generate scoring
chances. He said something about the boys finishing checks, so am I to
conclude they were intent on putting the hurt on instead of running up
the score? A better way to send a message than picking fights one
would suppose. >> Stay informed about: Best game of the year |

I don't get Center Ice, but from the highlights it appeared to be the
best game I have seen by far (missed van and nash). They were flying.
Using their speed. >> Stay informed about: Best game of the year |

Maybe, they read our NG. :-)
Much better than all the other games. Now, can they repeat this with
some consistency? The Sharks have size and speed to overmatch most
and play equally with anybody. Just have to have their heads in ALL
the games, ALL the time, not just when they feel like it.
Frankly, I'd like to see more hitting and even more offensive
domination. They still generated only 20 shots, and Kipper didn't
look especially sharp, either. But, nice to see them win going away,
rather than trying to hang onto a nailbiter. >> Stay informed about: Best game of the year |

Is that all? Were they also pounding them on the boards and knocking
them on their rears? I would hope they had those goons winded and too
gassed to be able to drop gloves after that humiliation in front of
the home crowd. I'm thinking that playing the men instead of the puck
might be an interesting way of holding a lead, rather than going from
a 3/2/1 to a prevent 1/2/2/1 formation. >> Stay informed about: Best game of the year |

I only got to see the second and third periods, and the picture
quality wasn't great.
Nonetheless, I got the feeling in the third period that the Sharks
could have generated more shots on goal -- except there was absolutely
no need to. Keep the puck, make them chase you around the ice, and
don't risk giving away possession by taking shots that aren't there.
Slightly disappointing to have the shutout broken up late, but that's
probably being hyper-critical. The SH goal was sweet... >> Stay informed about: Best game of the year |
