Post subject: no hockey?

Judging from the amount of posts it looks like hockey is going to fade to
black this year with barely a whimper.
While I love hockey, maybe we have all just been nickeled, dimed and bled
dollar upon dollar to death. And we just don't care anymore.
Have we lost a great sport forever?
Much more serious than any previous baseball or football strike. This is a
lockout where the big losers are the fans.

Meanwhile we sit back and condone players reaping millions upon millions
of dollars on who's back???? You got it. Ours.

We need more reasonable wages for players and more reasonable prices for
tickets, parking, hot dogs and sodas. Owners also need to be more
realistic in their obligation to the fans.
They used to be family oriented sporting events. Now all you get are the
priveleged in their sky boxes and drunken slobs in the grandstands.

So while a great sport like hockey dies the rest of you just keep
patronizing the other "major" sports.

If the fans ever get a clue how badly they are being ripped off, these
cretins we call atheletes will have to scrape for their very existence,
just as we do.

Keep in mind that these "cretins" are the ones you are interested in
watching. Also keep in mind that not one NHL player makes one dollar more
than an owner was willing to give him. So if you want to complain about what
athletes make and how much it costs to see them play, I won't argue with
you. But the owners just have themselves and their total lack of spending
control for getting them into this pickle. A player can't collect a salary
unless an owner signs on the dotted line.
