Ice was slow and mushy. Just what they needed to slow down the Wild.

I heard tell that they had to make their skates less sharp to be able to
skate on that ice in CA. Sheesh, not a fun way to skate.
I wonder what I could use for an excuse for not winning tonite? ;o(
The Ducks have superior puck handling, that's for sure.
On to Game 4 MUST wins from now on.

That's an issue we've had every year in Anaheim. It's only coming to
the surface now that we're starting to get playoff time. Results
notwithstanding, it's been a remarkable series to watch. You have a
fantastic goalie, which promises a spectacular future. >> Stay informed about: Come on home, boys and |

How come "ice" has to be an issue? Even in CA?
Nice Win for the Wild tonite. Yippeeee. They skated like there was no
tomorrow! Both teams!
On to CA.

Il'ya was respectable in the first two periods, but he crumbled in the
third...and looked like he was back in the AHL with Cincinnati. It didn't
hurt to see a couple of ex-Aeros (Burns and Bouchard) light him up. Now, if
they can repeat that Thursday night...;-)

The Ducks lost their composure after the Wild took the lead. (Gee, ya
think?) This is something the Wild never really did this series. A
couple dumb penalties and a recurring issue with passing the puck
right into the teammate's skates, it was only a matter of time before
you guys would pounce. I'm hoping it's a wake-up and that Carlyle has
them working on passing drills from dawn to dusk today.
AnnE: As for why ice is an issue, I don't know. There were write-ups
in the Orange County Register last year about the problem and how they
had no idea how to fix it. You're right, though. No such complaints
when the Kings went to the finals. >> Stay informed about: Come on home, boys and |

Gosh, I thought their passing was great. If only the Ducks could
concentrate on skating and not fighting, maybe they would fare better.
And if we could learn not to "dump off" we'd be better off too. <g>

No idea on how to fix the ice problems? Amazing. Guess our guys had
to dull their skates just to skate on it. I do have to admit that they
didn't look like they were skating on mushy ice even tho they played
like it.

It appeared the Ducks were coasting most of the night. With Beauchemin
out of the Ducks line up, it opened up the middle a bit. And that is
all the Wild needed with their speed. Beauchemin will most likely be
back for Thursdays game and the best way for the Wild to win would be to
jump out to a 2 goal lead. This will open up the middle as the Ducks
will have to move to a more offensive style of play. These tight games
favor the Ducks and their defensive style of play. >> Stay informed about: Come on home, boys and |

That was our entire strategy during the Kariya-Selanne years. During
their shifts, their line would aggressively attack the net but the
other lines would simply take and dump until Daffy and Teemu were
rested enough to come back out. Power plays were hypnotic.

Sadly, one of the things I remembered seeing was Arrowhead Pond ops
requested to drop the temperature in the arena but were rebuffed
because season ticket holders were complaining that it was too cold
already. Neighbors griped as well because we're constantly in an
"energy shortage" out here and to allow an arena to crank up their AC
while the rest were advised to use theirs sparingly didn't sit well.
I truly wonder if this is something unique to Orange County or if
Florida, Carolina, Texas, and Arizona have the same issue.

Yeah, that's a problem we have with the whole sun rising a couple
hours later out here. At least you're not in New York or you'd have
to pretend there was no hockey west of the Mississippi. >> Stay informed about: Come on home, boys and |

Beauchemin or not, if Giguere is in the nets tomorrow night, the Wild will
need to open it up with a vengeance...

I don't know. Giguere just may be a bit vulnerable right now. I fully
expect the Wild to come out blazing.....I just hope we have a new set of
officials. Last night was an absolutely pathetic display by the refs.
I also hope May is not suspended so the Boogy man can clean his clock.
This of course after we have a nice lead late into period 3. >> Stay informed about: Come on home, boys and |

It didn't help that Dan O'Rourke was one of the two last night...he's still as
clueless as he was when he was annoying the AHL.

If May isn't suspended for that, there are problems in the NHL
leadership...and I won't complain if Boogie does to him what he did to
Fedoruk.

May's been suspended but so what? He'll come out once more and do it
again. Enough with the Dirty Duck saga! Whatever happened to "finese"
skating instead of all this thug-business on the ice? I vhant to see
superior skating skills and not see the likes of players thinking
they're the next Ali? Breaking teeth with a deliberate stick blow to
the mouth and injuries to the head are not what hockey is all about.
Bring back the sport where skating is the preferred way to entertain!
Enough is Enough.
