T-bonehead was effing horrible, Buf should have scored at least a half
dozen, rebounds galore, T-bo flopping around or just plain frozen in
place, geez that was ugly >> Stay informed about: the honeymoon is over . . . |

thibault was serviceable-- a backup goalie. he definately let up some
rebounds, but some of those were quality saves on good scoring chances.
in some instances 3 or more consecutive saves before a goal was
scored. the D either needs to clear people from the front of the net
or clear the puck off the rebound. how many point blank chances can
you give up and expect the goalie to bail you out?
0-for-6 on the PP including the lengthy 5-on-3 and a 4:00 double major.
zero goals. PP cost us the san jose game too. >> Stay informed about: the honeymoon is over . . . |

That was ridiculous. They seem to enjoy moving the puck on the PP
WAAAAYYYYY too much.
Although a few things HAVE changed since last year... I like Gonchar
(for) now, and I actually feel sympathy for T-Bo. >> Stay informed about: the honeymoon is over . . . |

if they "should have" scored 6, and they didn't, doesn't that mean he

i agree about malkin in front of the net. i've noticed that crosby and
malkin both like that spot along the right boards and *sometimes* they
almost nuetralize each other.
army would be the obvious choice to get his nose dirty in front of the
net. thorburn maybe has earned a look at this role. and staal has had
a number of his goals this season on rebounds from about 2-3 feet from
the net. they kept him up from JR give the guy some ice time! >> Stay informed about: the honeymoon is over . . . |

Why do you think that? A successful power play involves more than just
throwing out a few 1st and 2nd year phenoms. >> Stay informed about: the honeymoon is over . . . |

I agree with that. They should be a way higher ranked PP. How do ya
figure that top PP line is 'throwing out' a few phenoms? 1st year, 2nd
year or 83rd year... it doesn't matter. When you have Crosby, Malkin,
Whitney and Gonchar as your top PP line AND getting the lion's share OF the
PP time, it's a notable offensive force who is notably under-achieving
So the logical counter to your argument is this: If these four guys can
post large numbers at even strength, why in the FUCK can they not do the
same when up a man? Their time spent in the league isn't even a part of
the argument.
They spend way too much time passing and looking for the perfect goal
instead of shooting the f'n puck on net (Gonchar excluded.... he's been
shooting like a marine sniper on meth... but no one wants to pick up the
sweet rebounds he creates!). It seems to me that that's the glaring
weakness on the PP. They seem to set up well, move well.... just dont
shoot enough (if at all).
Any thoughts? Anyone? >> Stay informed about: the honeymoon is over . . . |

Exactly.

I've noticed that a bunch of shots are way off, so no chance of a rebound.
Plus, I don't like seeing Malkin used in front of the net. His passing &
puck handling are too damn good! Having him looking for rebounds is a
waste...that's Recchi & LeClair's job. >> Stay informed about: the honeymoon is over . . . |

There's a thought. Try LeClair on the left side with Crosby and Malkin?

Can never be 100% from the point, but Gonchar really has been outstanding
at putting a fair share of laser-shots low on the net. Unfortunatley,
anyone with a penguin on their chest that might be in front of the GT is
thinking about their next bong hit, or something. >> Stay informed about: the honeymoon is over . . . |

I was referring to the PP only! Last night Malkin was placed in front of
the net and didn't touch the puck. >> Stay informed about: the honeymoon is over . . . |
