When one sees the same, exact patterns repeating that have been veiwed
for three pervious seasons (250+ games, including playoffs), then it's
not some precipitous, reactionary conclusion to assert that if the
pattern persists, the results are likely to be the same.

But, these games demonstrate that the past, self-defeating pattern of
casual play --believing the press clippings, or whatever-- is
unchanged. So, even if they perk up in mid-season, as they often do,
what makes us think they'll behave any different than usual come
playoff time.

Honestly, it was, has been, and is time for a new coach with a new
work ethic. How many times do we need to repeat the pattern until
it's obvious? (P.S. By the time we learn, we won't have a Cup
contender.)

However, I will say the Sharks just never seem to be ready to play
come opening day. They look like they're floating around Logitech out
there. So I will say I am not going to be watching these early games

Well, to be fair, a few things have changed, so I think we should give it a
little time before a judgement is made. We have a new vet in Roenick who
has been around a while, and will hopefully turn out to be a better deal
than Guerin or Bell. We have a few new guys who look very promising in
Mitchell and Setoguchi. You may be right in the end, I just say it's too
early to tell yet. I hope you're wrong, though. You probably do too.

Who said anything about making the playoffs? Nothing is guaranteed in
sports. Every season is a completely new animal. Just look at the NFL
this year. That's what great about sports. I won't say this team will
make the playoffs, or won't win the cup. That's what makes it
interesting.

But, for the time being, the offense to me is simply un-watchable.
Passes to no one, floating around. Lazy passes, lazy drop passes,
etc.. They're simply playing pick-up type of hockey right now. Wake me
if and when it changes.

One other aside of interest: Is Setoguchi a healthy scratch or
injured? If the latter, this guy has to be the most injury prone dude
ever. Don't know that he'll be of much help. Mitchell OTOH looks very
promising.
