How was that any different.... - How was that waved-off goal in Buffalo any different than the one in game 1 against the Rangers? Why did that one count, and this one didn't? By the way, VS. is terrible. Joe Beninati? Why don't they just get Rick or some other..

Scary good - More than

Teeeeee-mu Selanne! - And Hockey Town is stunned.

Team +/- leader? - NY Rangers website lists top player for 06-07 season was ... Marek Malik??? How the hell is that possible? Is it simply that he played most often with the top scoring line. Hopefully those in charge will look beyond the stat ... PLEASE?

With these kind of incredible scouting and decision making skills, is there
any reason to be anything but blindly optimistic about the future of this
organization...

There is more to Boyle scoring a goal against the Rangers in his second NHL
game than the goal itself. When Boyle bowed in New Jersey the other night,
he became the 29th player drafted in the first round in 2003 to reach the
NHL. The only player not to make it -- Hugh Jessiman. The remarkably strong
first round has already produced a number of star players -- nine of the 22
forwards selected are among the top three scorers on their teams this
season, including four selected after Jessiman who lead their teams (Zach
Parise in New Jersey, Mike Richards in Philly, and Ryan Getzlaf and Corey
Perry 1-2 for Anaheim), while six of the seven defensemen selected are
top-four defenders on their teams, five of them among the top scorers on
their teams among defensemen. Only poor Hugh Jessiman has not made it to the
NHL.

You can just look at his name and know he's never going to become an
NHL star. That should be the first prerequisite to drafting someone.

Now that was an uplifting story and I'm sure after tonights game I feel
about the same. Thanks

I remember watching on MSG where they did video of that draft and there was
Slats all smug with himself and cigar in mouth and saying "Only 20% of 1st
rounder's actually make it to the NHL". Well, Glen you have defied the laws
of average.

20% ... 97%... same difference. It's remarkable. These guys never cease to
amaze. And they outdo themselves time and time again. What's next? They
gonna draft the only person in draft history to go crazy and kill all the
organizations best prospects? They have to keep upping the ante. It takes
creativity.

Yeah, who would have walked around with his name on the back of their
jersey?!

Renney was responsible for drafting him. Personally, I can't stand
college players.

Don Maloney is the guy responsible for the Jessiman pick. He had a raging
hardon for him since he scored so freaking high on his super duper
impenetrable battery of psychological tests to determine who had the will of
a champion(never you mind about hockey ability). Plus Jessiman grew up a
Rangers fan... game, set and match.
