They will get shutout.

They will allow 8 goals.

Lundqvist will demand a trade.

Jagr will demand to be resigned.

Avery will be out for the rest of the season.

Shanny will agree with the refs.

Renney will have an emotion chip implanted and will finally experience
"love".

Drury will look disinterested with hockey for 60 minutes and will not be "in
the right place at the right time".

Prucha will continue his "never score another goal for the rest of my life"
streak.

The Rangers 4th line will "shut down" the Colorado top line to only 5 goals.

Dubinsky will look very talented at times and show signs of good things to
come... he will have 0 points.

God I hope this works. *fingers crossed*

How can anyone feel sorry for you guys? You root for the team Scott
Gomez said he always wanted to play for. I sure as hell can't say
that.

You'd think that the Rangers wouldn't have had to grossly overpay Gomez
to get him to play for the team he said he always wanted to play for.
Barring that, you'd think Gomez would actually *play* for the team he
said he always wanted to play for. Or maybe what he really said was,
"I've always wanted to be grossly overpaid by the Rangers. It's been a
dream of mine since I was a little kid."

He lives right down the street from Lincoln Center. You know how I
envy that. I'll tell you. Two nights ago I was attending the opera
with my niece. I forgot the name but basically the gods were
tormenting all of them. The dad wants to invade an innocent country,
and the gods give dad the getgo so long as he makes a sacrifice and
kills his daughter. He's ok, if not downright enthusiastic, with
that...pulls out the knife and starts carving away like a Friday the
13th scene. However before the grim reaper collects the remains, the
dying daughter somehow bewitches herself to some dank Trojan place
with handmaidens and downontheirluckers...she's looking to get back in
the game with Kate Smith's voice no less. Meanwhile the mother kills
the father for killing the daughter and the son kills the mother for
killing the father and the gods continue to inflict tsunamis of
suffering on pretty much everybody on the stage. Basically the theme
is "I'm suffering even more than I was five minutes ago." Btw, the
only reason I know all this is cause of those English subtitle things
they have at the Met on the seat backs.

So to sum it up, it was one giant wailfest. Even more than Game 6 &
7 of the 2001s SCFs.

The reason I bring all that this up is after the show we take the
subway back - except the southbound 1 takes a frickin' 25 minutes to
show up (Northbound was doing quite well thank you.) and we miss our
NJ train by 1 frickin' minute. Now I know why Scott Gomez signed
with the Rangers. So he doesn't have to make a midnight commute back
to New Jersey after the opera. Just walk or even skip merrily the
couple blocks and then thank the doorman.

Ummm Gomez? He leads the team in points.
He has 5 points in 3 games since moving to the top line.
He is 3rd on the team in plus-minus.
I can see your actual hockey talk timing is about as good as your comedic
timing.

Well, it could be worse--I could have your hockey knowledge (or lack
thereof).

Let's kill off the easiest first: third on the team in +/-. Okay,
plus-minus is pretty much a bullshit stat anyway. But even if you do
value it, he's tied for 124th in the league at +4 on a team which up
until recently was the best defensive team in the league. You'd think
someone who played in the Devils' system would be better in +/-.

Five points in three games--at this point that's tantamount to saying
the Rangers have a one-game point streak. You could also say that the
Rangers have one win since Gomez moved to the top line, a top line which
got lit up by offensive juggernaut Minnesota (20th in the league in
goals/game), and a top line that faced a very mediocre Peter Budaj last
night (three goals on 20 shots on the 19th-best defence in the league).

Leading the team in points. Okay, but he's tied for 45th in the league
in points, and leads the second-worst offense in points. Maybe if he
were producing more points they wouldn't have the second-worst offense
in the league. (More to the point, maybe if the Rangers didn't overpay
expecting an offensive juggernaut they wouldn't be in this mess--he's
actually about on pace to match his 06-07 numbers, which was a slight
off-year for him.)

So, overpaying for Gomez? You bet, even if one views your stats in a
favourable light (British spelling just for you!).

On the plus side, at least your post had no egregious spelling or
grammar errors. Is that a one-post egregious-error-free streak for you?
Congratulations!

Finally, unless you work there, why are you still abusing bird.net?

I have to give Rog credit - I just learned Canada is the second best
place in the world to live - after Norway.

For the record, he was +59 with the Devils.

If the Rangers lose tonight - It may be time to go into panic mode. And that may be the best thing for them, If last year was any indication.

Only the Rangers - Only the Rangers could allow 1 goal in 3 games, and still manage to lose 2 of them. Both goalies were great tonight. Still amazing that the guys who get paid to score can't do it. Can we give Lundqvist the Vezina yet? Beating the Devils always feels....

It's such a privilege to be a Rangers fan - It's great that even in a meaningless preseason game, we managed an attendance of 18202. The sense of superiority I have over dumb Devils fans and Devils season ticket holders make me appreciate even more my sophisticated and refined lifestyle. Also,..

Rangers were great - In Garbage time that is. Only seen the last period. Was Lundqvist weak tonight? Not that he has been the major problem so far but it seems most every goal against him this year has been top shelf. That certainly is his weakness.

Rangers really turning it around - Early in the season they couldn't score, but they could rely on their penalty kill and goaltending to win them games. They still can't score, but the special teams and goaltending is evening up the Rangers game. Exciting stuff.
