I have heard there is a email list for the Caps. Can somebody fill me in how to
get on the list? Thanks in advance!

there are two I know of. capitals.DeleteThis@his.com and washcaps.DeleteThis@his.com both are
subscribed to the same way (they both use the same host "his.com". not a
lot of difference between them. subscribe by sending email to
majordomo.DeleteThis@his.com with the words "subscribe capitals" or "subscribe
washcaps" in the body of the email. Don't ask why there are two, long
story.

Just be careful, at least one of the lists is populated by arrogant,
self-centered wannabe coaches who will ice you from any conversation if
you dare disagree with their high-and-mighty position. You'll soon be
reduced to reading other people's mail.

That could describe either list. I take it from the bitter tone of your
post that you're one of those people who "got iced" which I guess is
your way of saying "got completely out classed in an argument" without
putting yourself down.

So you're either one of those people who got so frustrated because your
opinion wasn't validated and you started calling people names and got
booted. Or you're one of those people that got the worse end of an
argument and then were so scary/psychotic/stalker-like in your private
emails to the person you disagreed with; that the list owner had no
choice but to boot you.

Maybe I'm guessing wrong but there haven't been too many people "iced"
(LOL) on either list.

Don't ever say anything positive on those lists as they will beat you
down like a rented mule and change your name to pollyanna!!!!

I am now an out of towner, so I really look forward to reading both the lists.
I like the fact that they are populated with people who have an opinion or two
and are willing to stand by them, argue them, defend them. That's what makes
things fun: variety. If we all thought the same things, it would be a mighty
dull world. If I do post an article or statement, I will back it up the best I
can. If I am wrong , so be it. I enjoy sports banter, and look forward to
reading the NG and the lists. And contributing to them as well. Thanks for
posting the subscription info, Simon!

No one on Rob's list could "outclass" anyone. Unless you consider it
to be a matter of beating someone with LACK of intellect. Then many of
them (Sue Zirbes, for example) being one of the all-time knock out
champs and one of the favorite members of the throng.

Well, I was "iced" after snapping at a particularly annoying poster
but I don't view it as a loss. I'm still on Zeman's list though and
have my own list with a very small list of members (and no Sue Zirbes
or any of the ilk thereof).

You were booted from that list, if memory serves because you went
ballistic on the list and then sent her some emails that were rather,
um... off the handle. BTW you were one of only three people kicked from
that list while I was helping moderate it, all of whom went off with Ad
hominem attacks after being warned not to.

> This from Captain Courtesy.

I've had plenty of arguments with people. I'm no saint. But I'll tell
you no one was ever kicked off the list because of confrontations
(private or on-list) with me.

Yeah, trust me he would have kicked you sooner than Rob did; And WITHOUT
the warning Rob gave you. Difference is you didn't go off on Zeman's
list. BTW I didn't kick you off that list, you were Rob's, but for what
it's worth I agreed with him.

"ilk"? LOL She's a nice older lady who happens to annoy you because
she's an Avs fan. I've disagreed with her tons of times, never needed to
go off the deep end though.

I think "ilk" is a term better reserved for people who spew tons of
borderline psychotic invective at some old lady who disagrees with their
opinion.

Whatever. You are an ass yourself but in your own way but I know you
don't think so.

I call someone like I see them, maybe it's "ad hominem" ... And
actually, from what I recall, you weren't moderating -- not publicly
-- when I left the list. Wunderkind Richard Anderson was (supposedly).
Truth to tell, I recall being in a foul mood that day and making some
over the top comments but the boldness of saying them to begin with
(all which I pretty much still feel today) showed how much respect and
regard I have for you and Rob's associated cohorts. Give him a hug for
me, will ya?

Well, if the people on Zeman's list were more of the Shootzie and Sue
variety I would have said the same thing, possibly and being "kicked
off" and it would be no loss. The truth is I don't much care one way
or the other but since it came up....

As far as Rob's "warning" -- the man has no authority to "warn" me
about anything. I say what I like WHEN I like and if I feel strongly
about it no amount of "warning" by some peanuthead would change that.
I would pretty much do the same thing if it struck me...

I don't know about "nice" or "lady"...the "old" part seems accurate.
She annoyed me because she has no intelligence, doesn't know hockey,
is never on topic, and should just be quiet because it's obvious she
has nothing to say of any value in respect to teh game of hockey (or,
for that matter, the Washington Capitals).

I've disagreed with her tons of times, never needed to
> go off the deep end though.

Again, you can be an jerk--in your own way--but still an jerk.

No "ilk" refers to someone with no brain.

_You_ "think"??? Another case of liberal definition. As to what is
and isn't psychotic, obviously you understand what is and isn't
psychosis the same way you understand most of the rest of your
statements -- you don't.

Have a nice life.

And, by the way, I've been on literally tons of lists over the years
and that is the only one where this has ever happened--so I can tell
you where the exception is. But I suppose you'll go back to your usual
poor attempts at "thinking" and resort again to arguing using words
you don't understand.
