<< Meeting Tuesday, many players shocked by the 24% salary rollback. The NHLPA
appears to be willing to meet half way, but I don't know the fine print. Who
knows, it may be just PR and a way to make the owners look bad if they don't
accept. -- default >>
good morning, tank. for the next three years, we're going to reduce your pay 8
% per year. why? because we aren't making enough money. we have no plan in
place to imcrease how much money we bring in so we just decided to keep doing
business as usual and cut your pay by roughly one-fourth over the next three
years. btw, it has nothing to do with your job performance. see you around the
water cooler, friend, and thanks for your loyalty to the job.
sincerely,
your boss
i'm not a labor guy by any stretch of the imagination, but i can't imagine any
player willing to accept this kind of a deal. it's backwards thinking. the way
to solve a HUGE part of the problem is - and this kind of thinking will really
surprise a lot of league types - TO TRY AND INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THE
TEAMS AND THE LEAGUE BRING IN. until they start thinking about how to increase
revenue and expand the fan base, this league has no future and doesn't deserve
to keep operating.
