IMO that was the even up for the infamous too many men on the ice call
in game seven of the 1979 semi finals. Guy LeFleur then tied the game
on the power play and Yvon Lambert won the game for Montreal in OT to
send them to the finals against I think it was the Rangers. Not that
I'm bitter or anything... 8-( >> Stay informed about: Too many men on the ice |

I agree. I think that the B's would've won that series in five games,
six at the most.
Still, regular season or not, you just don't see calls like that
against Montreal in Montreal so I'll take it and be glad for it. >> Stay informed about: Too many men on the ice |

But this was a regular season game that may mean nothing. If the B's had won
that game in '79 they would certainly have gone on to defeat the Rangers for
the Cup. >> Stay informed about: Too many men on the ice |

in 79 the Bs didn't caught with a slow line change, they had 6 skaters out
there playing. the ref twice tried to get grapes attention but he was
studiously ignored, the ref had no choice but to blow the whistle. it wasn't
a bad call it was bad coaching.
cherry on his show "grapes" once did a bit on how coaching mistakes can
lose games. he used that as his example. he showed films tht showed the 6
men playing and the referee trying to get his attention. it was quite funny.
i wish nesn would put that show or whatever he is doing back on their
schedual. >> Stay informed about: Too many men on the ice |

That was as blatant a TMM as you could possibly find. Abeischer was 50
feet from the bench with the extra skater 30 feet. Only Kerry Fraser
could have missed that one.
Speaking of Fraser. You don't see him doing B's games anymore do you?
You know why? When the B's were #1 or #2 in conference in reg season,
he was there every 5th game or so. Now? Once every 20. >> Stay informed about: Too many men on the ice |

True. It seems the refs were more intimidated by the Leafs fans in the last
two at ACC. The B's won both but Toronto got some amazing gifts from the
refs late in both games. Darcy Tucker with a slew foot (or near-slew) that
led directly to a goal, the non-call when Alberts was clearly interfered and
another in the second game that escapes me now. If they can make Kerry
Fraser wear a helmet, then they can make these refs a little more
professional under pressure. >> Stay informed about: Too many men on the ice |

Right. Even though he now looks like Kazoo(sp) from the Flintstones, he
still is the best. Doubt they'll have him doing too many games for the more
hapless teams in the league, but if TT plays like this all year we may get
Kerry in the (dare I say it) playoffs. >> Stay informed about: Too many men on the ice |
