Looking at the standings I've realized that the Oilers have NOT yet landed a
playoff spot...

They are currently in 8th spot but St. Louis has 1 less point and a game in
hand which if you count as a win would move them to 7th and Nashville and
the Oilers tied for 8th. Currently the Preds have one more win than the Oil
so the Oilers would be placed in 9th. Even if they had the same amount of
wins the Oil would still be in 9th as the Preds have won the season series
vs. the Oilers. So until the Preds and Blues lose their next game(s) and we
continue to win we are still out of the playoffs no matter what the
standings show.

So how big is the Dallas game? No bigger than the last 6 weeks worth of
games as far as the playoff race is concerned but from a 'psychological'
point of view it is HUGE!!! I think if the Oilers can 'find a way' to beat
Dallas they will truly believe and so will I!!!

GO OILERS GO!!!!

PS: Thank god Hatcher is gone...

Yes, Nashville is still ahead of us because they win all the tiebreakers.
However the ascendant path of the gushing Oil combined with the plummeting
Preds leads one to suspect we will finish ahead of them. They have a far
easier schedule but if last night is any indication that may not be
significant. As far as St Loo we DO control our own destiny because if we
beat them in the one remaining game they can't catch us. We ARE in a whole
lot better position than ANYBODY here thought we'd be..... Just enjoy it!!!!

Look, nobody but the Journal, and Sun with their misleading "Oilers capture
playoff spot" thinks were in for sure. We simply ARE in 8th position.
However having said that its a HUGE accomplishment and whatever happens I am
pleased with this. Just getting into 8th was the big psychological hurdle
and the Oil already DO believe. I thank the Oil for making this such an
exciting race when they could have easily tanked. Win or lose they look like
winners right now to me.

Lets just keep on winning to remove any doubt! ;o) Hey we'll probably
have to beat Dallas anyway in the playoffs....... so just start now!
