The owners will lock out the players tonight when the contract expires.
Gary Bettman is blaming the players' union for not coming to an agreement. He
blames them for their unwillingness to negotiate a salary cap to fix the
economic problems of the game.

Its the fault of both the owners and players.
The owners pay for players that want millions of dollars for a chance to win
Lord Stanley's Cup.
I would also like to make a correction to your statement, it is the NHLPA
not the NHLPU.
National Hockey League Players Association not the National Hockey League
Players Union.
They are NOT a union, a union is where everyone in that union gets the same
pay and the union negotiates that for the members while and association
works on what is best for its members to work out their deal with the
owners.

Coach Todd will put him in a good place, I imagine...Bouchard, Law, Giroux,
and Boogaard -- this is going to be an improvement over last season, and
Boogie *will* finally score his first pro goal. (He came close a couple of
times towards the end of the season, but he'll be a few months older and
presumably smarter. I'm just hoping his first doesn't happen in San Antonio
on opening night. :-)

I'll see what I can find -- it'll be interesting, considering I'm up in
Kentucky with my parents, but I'll find a way to hack something together.

Not since the Moose bolted to Manitoba after the 1995-96 season, they don't.
(If you're wondering if the Wild have an AHL farm team, yes, they do -- it's
in Houston.)

Well TCI if ESPN does pick up the AHL it will not come a game to late for
me, I love watching AHL hockey.
Back when cable TV was real here in the Twin Towns, They use to have every
sports channel on a sports package and I would watch local sport from the
east and west coast just to see the AHL and some of the ECHL game, but now
they only do local sports and nothing else :-(
Yup just another hockey freak looking for a game-----UHG!

That's one of the good things about being in Houston -- two AHL teams within
200 miles, three CHL teams within the same distance (and that increass to six
if you stretch it to 300 miles), and one ECHL team barely 90 miles away...

Sorry about that -- but I can't complain about living in a state with more pro
hockey teams in it (13) than there are in all of Canada (10)...now, if we
could just get *all* of them to start playing on time. ;-)

PLENTY of hockey to be seen around here. The WCHA will start up in a few
weeks, and that's just as much fun as watching the NHL. The only problem is
that they play Fri/Sat and nothing the rest of the week. So I figure that
I'll find a local High School team and start following their season. Girls
or Boys doesn't matter -- what the NHLPA hasn't figured out is it's all
about the GAME, not the names. >> Stay informed about: It's official. There will be no hockey. |
